Malcolm Subban is a member of the Boston Bruins, but in life, family comes first.
The 20-year-old goaltender prospect — who Boston drafted in the first round of the 2012 NHL draft — recently admitted that he was cheering for his brother P.K. Subban during the Montreal Canadiens’ second-round playoff series against the Bruins last spring. Of course, this doesn’t mean that Malcolm was rooting against the Bruins. It was certainly possible for his brother to play well and still lose the series.

P.K. was one of the primary reasons why Montreal defeated Boston in seven games. The former Norris Trophy winner tallied seven points in the seven games, including the winning goal in double overtime of Game 1.
Malcolm, a Toronto native, will be the starting goaltender for the Providence Bruins (AHL) in 2014-15.
“I’m adjusting to the speed a lot more, I feel like my body matured a little bit,” Subban said earlier in July at Bruins development camp when asked about his growth in Providence last season.”I feel a lot more comfortable now as opposed to when I got drafted, I feel like I’m more mature physically and mentally. I think that really helps, especially with the style I play, I’m very athletic.”
Malcolm has not appeared in an NHL game, but he might get a chance to play against his brother when the two Original Six clubs meet in the preseason on Sept. 23 in Montreal.
