Mark McGwire Done With Jose Canseco, Drives Canseco To Twitter Meltdown

Mark McGwire, Jose CansecoThere once was a time when Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco were close friends. In fact, they were like brothers — or “Bash Brothers” as they were called in their days with the Oakland Athletics.

Canseco then infamously accused McGwire of being a steroid user in Canseco’s 2005 book, allegations that helped bring McGwire’s baseball world crashing down. McGwire eventually admitted to performance-enhancing drug use, and any hopes of reaching the Hall of Fame have been all but erased.

Canseco is now trying to make good with McGwire. At a recent celebration of the 25th anniversary of Oakland’s 1989 World Series victory, Canseco expressed regret for writing the book and publicly apologized to McGwire.

However, McGwire wants nothing to do with Canseco anymore.

“It’s too late. I don’t care to ever speak to him again,” McGwire told ESPNLosAngeles.com. “What he did was wrong.”

Canseco, as he’s been known to do, then suffered a Twitter meltdown on Wednesday night as he further tried to apologize to McGwire. It was kind of embarrassing, to say the least.

A home run derby with forgiveness at stake? What a guy.
