BrttdzkIUAE9bh3Miki Sudo upset Sonya Thomas to win the women’s division of the 2014 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Friday, making her the first person to defeat Thomas since women were given their own competition in 2011.

Sudo, ranked fourth before the contest, ate 34 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Thomas finished in second place after eating 27 3/4 and ending her three-year winning streak.

Thomas, the favorite entering the competition, has appeared at 11 consecutive hot dog-eating contest and also is champion in other eating events, including deep-fried okra, Maine lobster and baked beans, according to The Guardian.

“To be the first person to beat Sonya Thomas at hot dogs is surreal,” Sudo said. “I think both of us are hoping to break the existing world record of 45 in 10 minutes, but weather conditions got in the way, but we’ll definitely be back to set a higher number.”

Sudo missed the contest last year, withdrawing just eight days before the Fourth of July contest.
