There is a time and a place to enjoy Belgian beer, and that time and that place is not Tuesday afternoon when the United States men’s soccer team is battling Belgium in the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The Waffle House already had encouraged Americans to boycott Belgian waffles before the big game, but a minor league baseball team took things one step further.
The Potomac Nationals, the Class-A Carolina League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, removed all Belgian beer from the stadium’s concession stands before the World Cup matchup.

That means fans hoping to enjoy a Stella Artois at the P-Nats game were out of luck. It’s a small sacrifice to make for Team USA for one day, but the temporary banning could become permanent if Belgium eliminates the U.S.
“In the event the USMNT was to be defeated by Team Belgium tomorrow, it is not clear whether or not the Potomac Nationals will continue to carry Belgian beer at Pfitzner Stadium,” the team said in a press release, via NBC Washington.
That’s some serious love for America right there.
