Throughout the months of June and July, Clint Dempsey, Omar Gonzalez and DeAndre Yedlin joined forces on Team USA during the nation’s inspiring run into the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In case you didn’t know, the World Cup is over.

That fact was never more evident than during Monday’s MLS game between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Seattle Sounders, when tensions boiled over into a fight involving the three former U.S. teammates.

The fracas started when Gonzalez, a defender for the Galaxy, sent the Sounders’ Yedlin sprawling to the turf with a blatant shove. First on the scene was Yedlin’s teammate Dempsey, who showed his displeasure with Gonzalez by pushing him out of the way.

Dempsey had plenty to be angry about, as his team was already trailing 3-0 when Gonzalez knocked over Yedlin and appeared to yell something at him after he fell to the ground.

Still, it’s definitely unusual to see three players who celebrated together after a rousing 2-1 win over Ghana go at it as opponents on the field.
