Tempers flared between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Buffalo Bisons on Friday night at McCoy Stadium.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino and third baseman Will Middlebrooks both played for the PawSox as part of their respective injury rehab assignments, but fans were treated to much more following the sixth inning of Pawtucket’s 4-3 win. The PawSox and Bisons emptied the benches after Pawtucket outfielder Corey Brown exchanged words with Buffalo starter Esmil Rogers.

Rogers struck out Brown for the final out of the sixth inning. Things then got heated as the PawSox took exception to some inside pitches thrown by Rogers. Rogers plunked Middlebrooks on the elbow earlier in the contest.

The benches cleared and the bullpens emptied, but no punches were thrown. Order quickly was restored without any ejections.
