The Baltimore Ravens held an open practice in front of about 28,000 fans at M&T Bank Stadium on Monday, and running back Ray Rice received plenty of cheers.
ESPN.com’s Jamison Hensley noted that Rice was shown on the big screen on two occasions at the stadium and received loud cheers both times.
First, he raced a child down the sideline and received a standing ovation from some fans after the race.
A few minutes after that, he was shown on the video board once again pumping his chest with his fist amidst a roar of cheers from fans.
There were even plenty of fans, including women, donning Rice’s No. 27 jersey at the stadium.
Rice, of course, was arrested this offseason for assaulting his wife, Janay Rice, at an Atlantic City hotel. He recently received a two-game suspension from the league, and many fans and members of the media weren’t happy with the suspension’s lack of severity.
