Red Sox Making Moves To Improve Next Season, Not Distant Future (Video)

Boston Red Sox ownership and management has made one thing clear: They’re not trying to rebuild.

Both manager John Farrell and president and CEO Larry Lucchino said Wednesday that any move the Red Sox make before Thursday’s trade deadline would be with next season in mind, not the distant future.

“We look at it like how do we build the best team to compete the quickest,” Farrell said when asked about general manager Ben Cherington’s plan for the future. “I can’t speak to any negotiations that have been had, but we find ourselves in a unique situation.”
