Redskins’ Robert Griffin III Says He Probably Can Throw A Baseball 90 MPH

Robert Griffin IIIWashington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has a cannon, but he usually uses it to throw a football — not a baseball.

That said, the former Heisman Trophy winner believes he can hit 90 mph on a radar gun.

“I think with a few weeks of work, in preparation for that, I think I can throw 90,” Griffin said at a Washington Nationals game, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Griffin is a professional athlete, so he might be able to live up to his claim. However, it’s probably best he doesn’t take on this challenge given his recent injury issues.

Griffin played in 13 games last season, and the Redskins struggled to a 3-13 record at the bottom of the NFC East.

Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale got the winning decision in last year’s MLB All-Star Game and has an impressive 0.87 WHIP this season, but he still was left off the American League roster. That said, he is one of the five AL players involved in The Final Vote.

Sale’s teammates showed him support before their game against the Boston Red Sox by wearing “K Zone” shirts.

Whether they’re Olympians or star pitchers, they’re still athletes at the end of the day, which is why Lolo Jones sought help from Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price regarding an injury on Twitter. Price graciously responded.
