Chris Paul, LeBron James, Carmelo AnthonyLeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are the two biggest free agents this summer, and they are taking their time to make their decisions. Maybe it’s because they’re waiting on  New York Knicks president Phil Jackson to pull off some sort of miracle so they can play together in New York.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that a friend of Anthony has said his “dream” is to play in New York with James this season. Anthony is still hoping that Jackson can clear enough salary cap space to fit both Anthony and James under the cap.

“He really wants LeBron to come to New York,” the source told the New York Post. “That’s his dream right now. Phil is trying to get it done.”

How on earth could Jackson get Anthony and James under the cap and still build an actual basketball team? According to the report, the Knicks would have to move both Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani in order to shed payroll. Both James and Anthony would also have to accept less than maximum contracts.

The source also told the paper that James “loves (Jackson) and the chance to play with Melo.”

Despite that alleged interest, it still seems like a long shot that James and Anthony will both land in the Big Apple. James reportedly will meet with Heat president Pat Riley on Thursday, and another report surfaced Tuesday that he might be leaning toward returning to Cleveland.

Hopefully, for everyone’s sake, they make up their minds soon.
