Chris BoshLeBron James isn’t the only free agent being heavily recruited to leave the Miami Heat.

Sources told ESPN.com Monday morning that the Houston Rockets are “heavily engaged” in talks to try to convince Chris Bosh to come to Houston.

Reports initially surfaced that Bosh and Heat teammate Dwyane Wade would take pay cuts to stay in Miami, but a later report claimed that Bosh actually is seeking a five-year contract worth $90 million.

The Rockets are intensifying their pursuit of Bosh in the hope that James would not return to the Heat next season. While Bosh’s preference would be to stay with LeBron in Miami, the 30-year-old free agent still has been compelled to explore “Plan B’s,” one source said.

A move to Houston would be quite the “Plan B” for Bosh, as a partnership with Dwight Howard would make for a formidable frontcourt to complement a backcourt that includes James Harden and Jeremy Lin.

Bosh also is a Texas native, having grown up in Dallas, and while Miami remains the favorite to re-sign him, Houston certainly is an intriguing competitor.
