US PRESSWIRE SportsFOXBORO, Mass. — The first injury of New England Patriots training camp might wind up being a severe one.

Wide receiver Greg Orton likely suffered a torn Achilles tendon when he went down with a non-contact injury Friday during practice, a source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe on Saturday.

Orton likely would be placed on injured reserve, ending his season, if he did tear his Achilles. The wide receiver was re-signed by the Patriots on Wednesday after being released May 22.

The Patriots already have an open spot on their 90-man roster after releasing tight end Nate Byham on Friday.
