There are times when NHL enforcer John Scott does something that people think is dumb, and the first question is always, “Why do teams continue to hire players like John Scott?” The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday continued to ensure that Scott finds employment in the NHL.
Scott signed a one-year contract with the Sharks worth $700,000, according to CSNBayArea.com. Scott was an unrestricted free agent after his contract with the Buffalo Sabres expired.
The 31-year-old doesn’t bring much to the table other than his ability to punch other people in the face. Scott appeared in 56 games last season and registered one single point — a goal he scored against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 27. Scott did, however, manage to collect 125 penalty minutes in those 56 games. Scott has 430 PIM in 236 career NHL games.
