Report: Texans Draw Andre Johnson Trade Interest From Four Teams

andre johnsonAs Andre Johnson continues to squabble with the Houston Texans, teams are lining up to take the wide receiver off their hands.

Four teams, to be exact, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Thursday. It’s not specified, however, which teams those are.

The source also said Johnson is “not thinking of the Texans” as he works out independently from the team.

Johnson, a seven-time Pro Bowl pick, already has lost out on $1 million by skipping offseason workouts and said this week that he doesn’t know if he’ll suit up for the Texans in Week 1.

Simply put, Johnson wants out of Houston, which lacks an established quarterback and appears destined for another year of rebuilding. He has asked the Texans for a trade, sources told Rapoport, and also requested a chance to earn back the workout bonus he missed. The Texans thus far have refused both requests, according to reports.

Johnson’s credentials speak for themselves — he ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in catches (109) and receiving yards (1,407) in 2013 — but is set to make $10 million this season, a sizable chunk of change for a player who will turn 33 on Friday.
