The New England Revolution took the field at Toyota Stadium looking to snap a six-game losing streak, but a first-half goal was all it took for FC Dallas to hand the Revs their seventh straight defeat.
Andres Escobar scored in the 29th minute by beating New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth from close range to give FC Dallas the 1-0 advantage.
It was a lead the home team would not relinquish, as the Revs mustered nine shots but failed to find the back of the net as they fell to 7-10-2 (23 points) on the season.
FC Dallas bombarded the Revs with 24 shots and added an insurance goal in stoppage time off the foot of Tesho Akindele to secure the 2-0 victory. FC Dallas now sits in second place in the MLS’ Western Conference with 29 points (8-7-5).
The Revolution will return home on July 26 hoping to snap their losing skid against the Columbus Crew at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
