Jon Lester tossed eight shutout innings against the Kansas City Royals in the Boston Red Sox’s 6-0 win Sunday at Fenway Park. Lester received some defensive help in his final frame.

Lester issued a leadoff walk to Lorenzo Cain in the eighth inning and Omar Infante followed with a ground ball up the middle. It looked like the Royals were on the verge of getting something going, but shortstop Stephen Drew had other plans.

Drew made a sensational diving stop to rob Infante of a hit and start an inning-altering double play. The Fenway Faithful showered Drew with a big ovation while Lester acknowledged the shortstop with a point.

Drew has taken a lot of heat this season for his lack of offense, but his glove work continues to be stellar.
