The Tampa Bay Rays are starting to get hot, and it couldn’t come at a better time.

The Rays are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak, and have gotten back into the race in the AL East, trailing the first-place Baltimore Orioles by only 6.5 games. Joe Maddon’s club has only given up 12 runs in the last seven games, in large part because of the efforts from starter David Price and closer Jake McGee.

The Rays handed the Red Sox their fifth straight loss on Saturday, the same day that Boston traded Jake Peavy to the San Francisco Giants.

Tom Caron and Steve Lyons talked about the Rays recent winning streak — including their hot pitching since returning from the All-Star break — during Sunday’s edition of “Gameday Live.”
