Cleveland has LeBron James fever right now, and Indians manager Terry Francona is no different. He recently proved that in a big way upon hearing the news that James was coming home.
James announced last week that he was going to sign with the Cavaliers, an announcement that sent Cleveland into a frenzy. Francona was just as excited, and he told reporters on Monday at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game that he picked up Cavs season tickets after hearing the news.
“When I was driving home that night after he announced he was coming back, all I saw were LeBron signs and T-shirts,” the Cleveland skipper said, according to the Boston Herald. “It was great to see, to be honest.”
That’s a pretty bold move considering Francona probably won’t even be able to get to a ton of games given the fact he leaves Cleveland in the offseason and spring training begins in February. He’s not that concerned, though.
“I called for season tickets about an hour after I heard he was coming back,” he added. “And I’m not even there in the winter. So what does that tell you?
“I had Celtics season tickets, I had University of Arizona season tickets, and now I have Cavaliers season tickets. I don’t think I’ll have trouble getting rid of them when I’m not there.”
Those extra tickets could be in high demand, too, as the Cavaliers sold out their season tickets shortly after James made his decision.
