Tim Howard Joins NBC Sports’ Premier League Coverage As Analyst

While we all know Tim Howard can makes saves, we’ll soon discover that he can save up enough energy to do two jobs.

On Tuesday, Howard signed a multiyear contract with NBC Sports to serve as an in-game and studio analyst on the network’s Premier League broadcasts, according to ProSoccerTalk.

Howard will work up to 10 games during the 2014-15 season, balancing his television commitments with his primary career: playing goalkeeper for Everton FC and the United States men’s national team.

Howard appeared on seven of NBC Sports’ Premier League broadcasts last season, earning plaudits for his performances and work ethic. The gig became less temporary and more permanent Tuesday.

“Tim had an impressive debut on our telecasts last season and we are excited to have him join our Premier League team on a more extensive basis,” said Pierre Moossa, coordinating producer of NBC Sports Group’s Premier League coverage. “As an active Premier League player, he contributes unique perspective and insight to our broadcasts.”

Howard, 35, is entering his 12th Premier League season (eighth with Everton). After signing a contract extension with Everton last spring, Howard said he plans to retire when his new deal expires in 2018. Howard has yet to decide whether he will continue playing for the United States or end his international career, according to ESPN.

It seems unlikely that Howard will be bored, lazy and aimless when his soccer career ends.
