Team USA goalie Tim Howard just can’t stop making incredible blocks.

After becoming America’s hero with his 16-save performance in the U.S. men’s national team’s Round of 16 loss to Belgium at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Howard returned to Los Angeles, where he was greeted by a mob of very excited fans.

Howard signed some autographs and posed for a few pictures upon arrival at LAX, but it didn’t take long for one soccer enthusiast to push his luck and go in for the hug. Like the majority of shots that came Howard’s way during the World Cup, however, the man was denied as the goalie proved he doesn’t need to be on the field to make saves.

Every American probably wanted to hug Howard after his sensational performance in the tournament, but that doesn’t mean that every American should.
