Will Middlebrooks Restarts Rehab In Triple-A Pawtucket, Goes 1-For-3

Will MiddlebrooksAfter being shut down from baseball activities Friday due to swelling in his finger, third baseman Will Middlebrooks restarted his rehab with Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

Middlebrooks served as the PawSox’s designated hitter for seven innings, going 1-for-3 with a triple, one run scored and one strikeout. Middlebrooks was placed on the disabled list on May 17, and his return date is still unclear at this point.

Utility man Mike Carp also put in a rehab start with Pawtucket. He played first base for six innings and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Carp was placed on the DL on June 2 with a broken bone in his right foot. He’s 1-for-11 so far during his rehab stint.
