Edmonton Oilers captain Andrew Ference just upped the ante on theĀ Ice Bucket Challenge.

After the Bruins, among a host of other Boston athletes, jumped at the chance to dump a bucket of icy water on their heads to raise awareness and funds for ALS, a couple of former Beantown favorites got in on the act.

Dallas Stars center Rich Peverley took the chilly plunge from his former teammate, Chris Kelly, before passing the baton to Ference. Ference, who spent seven seasons in Boston, didn’t disappoint with his video, either.

After Ference doused himself with ice water in a fairly standard manner while sitting on the ground, the camera zoomed out to reveal a zamboni, which was sitting right next to the defenseman and delivered a powerful punch of cold that nearly knocked him over.

If it’s even possible, Ference might have just further endeared himself to the city of Boston.
