Boston Red Sox right-hander Anthony Ranaudo was 12-4 with a 2.41 ERA in 21 starts in Triple-A Pawtucket before his first start in The Show on Friday, and he lived up to the hype.
Ranaudo was far from perfect, but it was quite impressive for the 24-year-old’s first MLB outing, especially considering the pressure he was under going against the New York Yankees. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out two.
Ranaudo gave up just two earned runs and picked up the win in the 4-3 Red Sox victory. And his first major league strikeout? It was none other than the Captain himself, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.
