The grind of the preseason is wearing on the Buffalo Bills.

Multiple small scuffles broke out at Thursday’s practice, prompting Bills head coach Doug Marrone cut the session short, line the players up on one sideline and ream them out for what he later called a “lack of respect.”

“Get your (expletive) right,” Marrone screamed at the team, per The Buffalo News.

Defensive end Jerry Hughes talked back to Marrone from the line, to which the coach responded by yelling “you don’t have to play on this team.” Marrone later said the statement was not directed at Hughes specifically.

“That’s directed at anyone who doesn’t want to be part of the team,” he said. “I told Jerry that I love the way he practices and I love the way he plays special teams and how he goes about it. And we’ve got to get some other guys who are starters to do that.”

Thursday’s scuffles were minor, but they came one day after Wednesday’s practice devolved into an all-out brawl, with center Eric Wood and defensive end Bryan Johnson needing to be physically separated from one another.

The Bills, who began training camp July 20, will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Saturday in the third preseason game for both teams.
