Move over Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox, there’s a new baseball team that’s taking over the Windy City.
The 2014 Little League World Series kicked off Thursday with Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West team shellacking Lynwood Pacific 12-2. But everybody in their home city already knew that, as the game drew a 2.4 rating on ESPN, according to the Chicago Tribune, meaning it was watched in roughly 70,000 homes.
Meanwhile, the two Major League teams that call Chicago home are wishing they could get that kind of rating. Granted, the two clubs aren’t exactly contenders this season, but to put it in context, the Cubs are averaging a 1.5 rating this season while the Sox are averaging a 1.4 rating, the Tribune reports.
The Little Leaguers are all the rage in Chicago, and all eyes will likely be tuning in on Sunday afternoon when Jackie Robinson West takes on Las Vegas.
