David Ortiz Not In Red Sox Lineup For Series Opener With Blue Jays

David OrtizDavid Ortiz’s rough weekend will keep him out of the lineup for at least one game.

The Boston Red Sox’ designated hitter was banged up during a weekend series with the Seattle Mariners, leaving Sunday’s game early after fouling a pitch off his right foot. He’ll sit out against the Toronto Blues Jays in the first game of three-game series, which starts Monday night at Rogers Centre.

With Ortiz getting the night off, Mike Napoli will assume DH duties for Boston. Allen Craig will play first base.

The Blue Jays will turn to left-handed starter J.A. Happ for the opener. That might be good news for Craig, who enters Monday’s contest with a .600 (6-for-10) career average against Happ with a pair of home runs and six RBIs.

Clay Buchholz will start on the mound for the Red Sox.

Here are the full lineups for both clubs.
