Texas head football coach Charlie Strong is channeling his inner Bill Parcells.
When Parcells was the Dallas Cowboys’ head coach, he made his rookies earn the famous star on their helmets.
Strong is doing the same in his first year at Texas, except he’s making all of his players work to earn their Longhorn helmet decals.
When Texas players showed up for their first practice of fall camp, they wore blank white helmets without the famous Longhorn gracing the sides of their headgear.

Ever since Strong took over at Texas in January, he has tried to make his players earn everything — from playing time to helmet decals. He also wants his players to appreciate what it means to play for Texas. By removing the decals from their helmets and having them earn it, he’s sending his players a message that if Texas is going to return to its glory days, it has to bust its butt.
