Former BC Hockey Player Dies After Diving From Building In Nantucket

Juice Guys NantucketNantucket, Mass., police confirmed tragic news Saturday regarding a former Boston College hockey player.

Corey Griffin, a 27-year-old Scituate, Mass., resident, died early Saturday morning after jumping from the Juice Guys building in Nantucket, according to The Boston Globe. The incident happened around 2 a.m., and after police officers administered CPR, Griffin was pronounced dead at Cottage Hospital at 3 a.m.

Griffin was a friend of Pete Frates, the former BC baseball player whose battle with ALS has raised awareness of the disease all over the country. Griffin’s father told The Globe that he had received a call from his son telling him how he had raised $100,000 for ALS not long before his death.

Nantucket police and Massachusetts state police detectives are investigating the tragedy.
