If the Miami Marlins aren’t able to re-sign outfielder Giancarlo Stanton to a contract extension, they certainly can take solace in the fact that the price to acquire the phenom via trade continues to soar.

Stanton once again reminded the baseball world how much talent he really has on Monday night, when he stole the show in the Marlins’ 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Stanton was able to showcase just about all he brings to the table in a terrific individual performance. The 24-year-old showed off power to all fields with home runs to right field and left field, and he then flashed the leather with a sensational diving catch.

According to ESPN’s Home Run Tracker, the second blast — the one to left field — traveled a “true distance” of 470 feet. The 470-foot blast is Stanton’s second longest of the season, according to ESPN. He nearly hit one to South Beach back in April when he hammered a 484-foot shot to left field, the longest in Marlins Park history.

Stanton may end up being at the center of a lot of rumors this offseason. The Marlins reportedly aren’t very optimistic about their chances when it comes to re-signing Stanton to a long-term deal, which could lead the club to move him before he becomes a free agent after the 2016 season.

After Monday night’s showing, Stanton now has a league-leading 31 home runs and 82 RBIs to go along with a .292 batting overage and a .961 OPS.
