New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham doesn’t always play by the rules, and that cost him Saturday afternoon.

The NFL banned players from dunking on the goal posts as a touchdown celebration in March. Graham, who is noted for such celebrations, said he would ignore the NFL’s newest rule. During an intra-squad scrimmage, Graham kept true to his word.

The tight end grabbed a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Luke McCown and followed it with one of his usual dunks. The NFL officials who refereed the game immediately threw a flag after the now-illegal celebration.

Graham could end up costing the Saints 15 yards every time he scores, but his teammates don’t seem to mind all that much.

“Listen, as long as he’s in the end zone, that’s what we want,” safety Jairus Byrd told ProFootballTalk. “So that’s his decision to make, but as long as he’s getting in the end zone, you know, that’s a great thing.”
