Kelly OlynykKelly Olynyk has had quite the overseas tour.

Playing for Team Canada as part of a trip across Europe, the Boston Celtics forward landed on the blooper reel a week ago when he got his foot stuck in a billboard while chasing down a loose ball.

A few days later, Olynyk sat out an exhibition game against Turkey, sparking a few rumors that he might be injured.

The 23-year-old confirmed those rumors on Tuesday, admitting to ESPNBoston.com’s Chris Forsberg that he sustained a minor wrist injury during an awkward fall in game action.

“It’ll be alright,” Olynyk told Forsberg. “It’s not career-ending.”

That’s good news for Celtics fans, who have all probably witnessed Paul George’s gruesome leg injury suffered during a Team USA scrimmage that will cause him to miss the entire 2014-15 season.

Team Canada is scheduled to return home Thursday, but Olynyk came back a few days early as a precautionary measure.

The Celtics could benefit greatly this season from a healthy Olynyk, who averaged 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in 20 minutes per game during his rookie campaign but is expected to shoulder more of a load in 2014-15.
