Alberto Moreno transferAlberto Moreno appears to be Anfield-bound.

Moreno, 22, is set to fly to England to finalize a transfer from Spanish club Sevilla to Liverpool FC after the clubs reached an agreement on the transfer on Tuesday.

Liverpool will pay an initial transfer fee of around £12 million ($20.2 million) for Moreno, according to the BBC and the Guardian.

Moreno will be Liverpool’s eighth signing of the summer 2014 transfer window. Moreno is expected to officially join Liverpool in time for this weekend’s Premier League opener against Southampton. If Moreno does, he might play all or part of the game at left back.

Moreno was held out of Sevilla’s 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the 2014 UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday. Moreno was “in tears” at the end of the game, as he said goodbye to his old team, according to the BBC.

Moreno made 43 appearances (in all competitions) for Sevilla in 2013-14, helping the club finish fifth in Spain’s Primera Division (first division) and win the UEFA Europa League. Moreno was called up to Spain’s provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup but failed to make the final cut.

Should Moreno flourish under Rodgers at Liverpool, he’ll have a good chance at representing his country at major tournaments for years to come.
