Some New York Jets Players Using Dating App Tinder In Quest For Love

New York JetsThe New York Jets are looking to return to the playoffs this season, but a handful of players also are looking for love.

That’s why some of them have turned to Tinder.

The Wall Street Journal recently profiled a number of Jets who have turned to the dating app Tinder in the pursuit of a mate, and some are doing so without revealing their profession.

According to the Journal, at least 11 players had active Tinder profiles in late July.

For those unfamiliar, the Tinder app allows users to search for a companion by cycling through photos of other users. If they find someone they like, they “swipe right.” If not, they swipe left. If two users swipe right on each other, they’re notified and can message each other. The hope, of course, is that leads to a date.

As the story points out, some of the Jets make it a point not to reveal their status as NFL players in order to, well, find true love — or something like that.

“When I do find somebody, I want it to be real,” offensive tackle Breno Giacomini told the Journal.

Giacomini said he starts off by telling women he’s a construction worker. After a date or two, it starts to become obvious that he’s not exactly who he said he was.

“After a while, it’s, ‘Hey, how come this guy wants to take a picture with you?’ ” he said. “And it’s like, ‘Well, they think I play football or something.’ ”

Others aren’t afraid to show off the fact they play professional tackle football. Six of the 11 players on Tinder have pictures of themselves in Jets clothing. Safety Calvin Pryor has photos of him celebrating after being drafted by the Jets, and he told the Journal through a spokesman that he has a girlfriend and deleted the account.
