Paul Pierce might be getting a little stir-crazy. That, or he’s just going plain crazy.

The former Boston Celtics swingman is getting ready to start what will be his 17th NBA season after signing with the Washington Wizards this offseason. Pierce apparently knows the end is near — in his basketball career, at least — judging by a tweet he fired off on Wednesday morning.

A bit weird? Sure. But the 36-year-old’s work ethic has been praised as he’s matured as a player and a person, and it sounds like that’s continuing into his Wizards career.

Pierce is coming off of his one and only season with the Brooklyn Nets in which he played in 75 games. The Kansas product played 28 minutes per night and averaged 13.5 points per game. Pierce also averaged 13.7 points per game in the playoffs where the Nets were eventually eliminated in the second round by the Miami Heat.
