The Portland Sea Dogs are the beasts of the Eastern League.

The Sea Dogs defeated the Harrisburg Senators 5-1 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field. The win was Portland’s 87th of 2014, setting a single-season franchise record.

The previous record of 86 wins was held by the 1995 Sea Dogs, who at the time were still affiliated with the Florida Marlins organization. Portland became the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in 2003.

Portland claimed its fifth division title in team history Friday night. It’s the club’s first divisional crown since 2005.
