Who needs a “storied history” or “rich tradition?”
The Tampa Bay Rays have neither, but that hasn’t stopped them from joining in on the throwback uniform craze.
The team unveiled this week their second “fauxback” jersey/hat combo of the season, putting a new spin on the 1970s-inspired set they first debuted in 2012. They’ll wear these Sunday for their matchup with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Overall, we give them a solid A-. But are we the only ones who wouldn’t hate to see the Rays bring back the old Wade Boggs-era rainbow Devil Rays jerseys for a game or two, like they did in 2009?
Yes? OK, fair enough.
