Jimmy FundWhen it comes to the Boston Red Sox, seemingly every month has a connection to the Jimmy Fund, but the longstanding relationship goes to another level during August. So it makes sense that the Sox are designating August as “Jimmy Fund Month.”

The team made that formal announcement on Friday morning, as it gets set to begin a month filled with charitable endeavors benefiting the foundation for pediatric cancer research. The Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund are now in their 61st year of a very successful partnership.

The month will feature a handful of fundraising events and public acknowledgement. That will begin on Friday when Red Sox utility man Brock Holt makes a trip to the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Also, one Jimmy Fund patient will be honored before each Red Sox home game in the month of August.

The big event, of course, is the 13th Annual Red Sox Jimmy Fund Radiotelethon, which will take place Aug. 19-20 and will once again be televised live on NESN and broadcasted live on WEEI radio.

The Red Sox Foundation also will once again sponsor the Pan-Mass Challenge, set to be held Aug. 2-3.
