Josh Gordon can’t play in the NFL this season, so he might take his ball and head north.
The Cleveland Browns wide receiver had his year-long suspension upheld Wednesday, but ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Thursday morning that Gordon is considering finishing the season in the Canadian Football League.
However, Gordon likely would need the Browns’ permission to join the CFL, as he’s still under contract with the team. As Pro Football Talk pointed out Thursday morning, it’s happened before. The Miami Dolphins granted running back Ricky Williams permission to play in the league back in 2006.
The CFL is entering Week 10 of its 20-week schedule which runs until the first week of November. Should Gordon head to Canada, it’s unclear at this point which CFL team the Baylor product would join.
UPDATE: Gordon might not even be allowed to join the CFL, per league rules.
