We always knew that good things often happen when Robbie Keane has the ball in the opponents’ penalty area. On Saturday night, we learned that the breaks can go his way when he loses it in the danger zone.

Keane, 34, registered one of the most unique assists Major League Soccer has ever seen in the L.A. Galaxy’s 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Galaxy were leading 1-0 in the 32nd minute, when Keane tried to shoot on goal but whiffed. As Keane looked to the heavens in disbelief, the ball rolled to teammate Marcelo Sarvas, who coolly beat goalkeeper David Ousted to double L.A.’s lead. It took a few moments for Keane to realize what happened.

Earlier in the game, Keane set up Landon Donovan’s opening goal. The accidental assist to Sarvas was Keane’s 11th, and most comical, of the season.
