Robert Griffin III Flips Script, Asks Cancer Survivors For Autographs

One of the most common scenes from NFL training camp is seeing star players signing autographs for fans before and after practice.

Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins decided to flip the script on Saturday for a couple of deserving fans. Instead of giving cancer survivors Evan Washo and Vincent Silver Jr. his autograph, he asked for theirs.

The Redskins quarterback had Washo and Silver sign his white cleats in a show of respect to the two courageous survivors.

“I wanted to give her something special and have something to carry along with me on this journey,” Griffin told ESPN.com.

Griffin also said that the two were surprised when the quarterback asked them for their autographs.

“They don’t expect me to ask them for their autographs,” he said. “It was more like, ‘OK, cool.’ Down the line hopefully they remember that and say I was their first autograph.”

It’ll be nice to see Washo and Silver provide inspiration for the quarterback going in to the season.
