Robin Williams Was Speedy High School Track Star Before Becoming Actor

Long before Robin Williams was a comedic genius, he was a track star at Redwood High School in Larkspur, Calif.

Williams, who died Monday at the age of 63, is listed in the Redwood High School record books for cracking the 2-minute mark in the 800-meter race. He finished the race in 1 minute, 58.8 seconds.

While that’s almost 20 seconds off world-record pace, it’s still pretty impressive that Williams was able to run approximately a half-mile in less than two minutes.

Of course, Williams’ athletic career didn’t last long, and he went on to have a more successful career in acting and comedy.

The Academy Award winner remained a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan and held many roles in sports-related movies.
