The unrestricted free agent was arrested for DUI and cocaine possession in April and was bought out of his contract in June, but the story of the veteran’s rough few months is now taking another twist.

According to a police report obtained by the Tampa Bay Times, Malone was stunned to see the 1.3 grams of cocaine officer Andrew Visser found in his pocket, telling him he had no idea how the drugs got into his pocket because he had been wearing those same jeans for three days.

“I asked where it came from,” Visser wrote in his report. “And he said he was just shocked.”

Malone pleaded not guilty to the charges and his next court date is set for Aug. 19.

The 34-year-old’s agent, Mike Liut, also told the Times that a couple of teams have expressed interest in acquiring Malone’s services.

“I think he’ll land somewhere,” Liut said. “It’s just a matter of where and when.”
