patriots fansThink your team’s fans are the best in the NFL? Well, unless you’re a Cheesehead, you’re probably wrong.

That’s according to a recent Forbes study, which anointed Green Bay Packers fans as the NFL’s best.

The study, conducted by Nielsen Scarborough, ranked teams based on five criteria: three years of television ratings, stadium attendance related to capacity and merchandise sales on NFLShop.com; social media reach (Facebook likes and Twitter followers based on metropolitan area population); and hometown crowd reach, which is defined as the “percentage of the metropolitan area population that watched, attended, and/or listened to a game in the last year.”

Green Bay placed first in three of the categories, second in one (TV audience) and seventh in another (merchandise sales), allowing it to easily claim the top spot.

The New England Patriots checked in at fourth in the list, buoyed by their No. 1 attendance ranking. The Patriots also ranked fourth in merchandise, fifth in social media, seventh in TV audience and 10th in hometown crowd reach.
