Who says print is dead?

In the digital age, it was actually a newspaper ad that the Minnesota Timberwolves took out in the Sunday edition of the Pioneer Press that made the Kevin Love deal all but official.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Timberwolves and Cavaliers had agreed in principle on a deal that would send Love to the Cavaliers in exchange for rookie Andrew Wiggins (and a couple other pieces), but it couldn’t be completed until Aug. 23 due to an NBA rule regarding rookie contracts.

The Timberwolves couldn’t hide their excitement, though, as they took out an ad to welcome Wiggins, forward Anthony Bennett, and Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young to the team.

“Fierce. Focused. And ready to pounce,” the ad reads. “Meet the next generation of Wolves basketball.”

Neither NBA.com or the Cavaliers’ website have yet confirmed that the deal is official.
