Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in sports. Doing it twice with one swing is almost impossible.

New York Yankees infielder Brendan Ryan stepped to the plate against Detroit Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello on Thursday afternoon and singled, albeit in an unconventional matter. Ryan, who appeared to get jammed on the lower end of his bat, lined a base hit between the shortstop and third baseman.

But if you take a closer look at the hit, you’ll see Ryan pulled off no ordinary feat.

As the video shows, he incredibly hits the ball twice with his bat for a seeing-eye single to left field.

Ryan finished the day 1-for-2 at the plate in New York’s 1-0 win over the Tigers, though maybe the official scorer should credit Ryan with two hits.
