The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels were scoreless in the eighth inning of Sunday afternoon’s game in Southern California until Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run homer to give the visiting team a 3-0 lead.

That was all the offense the Sox needed, too, as Boston went on to win 3-1 to take the series from the Halos.

It was Cespedes’ first home run with the Red Sox. He was acquired from the Oakland Athletics as part of the Jon Lester trade made on July 31.

Cespedes has collected at least one hit in seven of his first eight games with the Sox, including Sunday. He’s also scored six runs.
