Zdeno Chara. Patrice Bergeron, Reilly SmithThe Boston Bruins open training camp Thursday to prepare for their Oct. 8 season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.

Despite winning the Presidents’ Trophy with the league’s best record last season and not making many roster moves over the summer, the B’s still have plenty of questions surrounding their NHL-level squad.

A few veterans, including Jarome Iginla and Shawn Thornton have departed, thus opening a few winger roles. Boston also has nine NHL-caliber defensemen for six or seven spots, which will create some healthy competition over the next few weeks. Other players, such as veteran center Chris Kelly, are returning from injury and could fit into several different spots in the lineup.

Starting Monday, Sept. 15, NESN.com will profile each NHL-level Bruins player and offer what we can expect of them during the 2014-15 campaign.
