allen websterAllen Webster turned in a gem in his final 2014 audition for the Boston Red Sox.

The young right-hander finished his season this week by shutting down the Tampa Bay Rays with a brilliant seven-inning performance. That impressive showing was enough for Webster to win Amica Pitcher of the Week.

Webster is one of the handful of candidates to break camp next season as part of the club’s 2015 starting rotation. He certainly finished this season with a strong case. After giving up just one run in seven innings Thursday against Tampa Bay, Webster finished the season by allowing just four earned runs over his last 18 2/3 innings.

In fact, Webster posted a 2-0 record to go along with a 2.63 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 24 innings over four September starts.
