The Washington Redskins have some of the most loyal fans in the NFL. Their reward? Old beer.
The Washington Post’s DC Sports Bog pointed out Friday morning that the Redskins were selling their fans beer that is passed its “freshness date.”
Fans at Thursday night’s game between the Redskins and New York Giants brought it the blog’s attention that they were being sold beer bottles with a World Cup logo on them. As you may or may not know, the World Cup began in June and ended in mid-July. That was more than two months ago.

DC Sports Bog’s Dan Steinberg asked one of the fans to send him the “freshness date” at the bottom of the bottle. Steinberg checked the date on Budweiser’s website, and the beer was beyond its freshness date.
As Steinberg also pointed out, the ‘Skins have done this before. They once sold peanuts from an airline company that was out of business.
Fresh or not, Washington fans probably consumed a lot of beer regardless Thursday night. Seeing your team get waxed 45-14 by a hated divisional rival will do that to you.
