Boston College Growing Favorite For Matchup With Colorado State

Marcus OutlowAfter upsetting USC and then trouncing Maine, the Boston College Eagles are growing favorites on the college football odds for their Week 5 matchup at home on Saturday afternoon against Colorado State.

The Eagles, who are 3-1 both SU and ATS so far this season while getting a smattering of votes in the AP Top 25 poll, opened as 3-point favorites against Colorado State at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com and were up to 9.5-point favorites as of Thursday night. Colorado State is 2-1 both SU and ATS on the season, and Rams wide receiver Joe Hansley is expected to miss Saturday’s game with a head injury suffered during practice.

Boston College beat Massachusetts 30-7 as a 17-point favorite in Week 1, then lost 30-20 in Pittsburgh as a 5.5-point underdog in Week 2 before shocking the Trojans with a 37-31 win as a 17-point underdog in Week 3. The Eagles had little trouble with Maine last week, winning that matchup 40-10 as a 23.5-point favorite on the college football betting lines.

USC will be looking to bounce back from that loss to Boston College on Saturday when they return to action at home against Oregon State. The Trojans opened as 13-point favorites in that matchup at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, but they were down to 9-point favorites as of Thursday night. USC is just 1-3 ATS in its last four games against Oregon State, although they’re also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games against Pac-12 teams.

The Trojans enter the weekend at 2-1 both SU and ATS. Top-ranked Florida State, meanwhile, is 3-0 SU but 0-3 ATS as they prepare to take on North Carolina State on Saturday. The Seminoles are just 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games against the Wolfpack according to the OddsShark College Football Database; they opened as 23-point favorites for Saturday’s game, but that line was down to -18.5 as of Thursday night.

Elsewhere around college football on Saturday a pair of neutral-site games will attract plenty of betting attention, with Arkansas vs. Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium, and Notre Dame vs. Syracuse at MetLife Stadium. The Aggies are set as 9-point favorites against the Razorbacks for Saturday, while the Fighting Irish are listed as 9.5-point favorites against the Orange. Syracuse has managed to go 3-0 ATS in its last three games against Notre Dame.
